I was lucky, in that my introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture began at an early age, as my mother is an Acupuncturist. I was influenced by her take on healthcare as a young adult and experienced the results of my own improved health and well-being from her treatments. I remember being awestruck by the wonders of this ancient healthcare system at a very young age and I continue to be awed by it’s cleverness!
The Chinese philosophical concept of healthcare and well-being is quite alien from the Western medical approach and for most Westerners it’s a bit of a challenge to get your head around as it is so different from what we are used to! However, after studying it for years, using it for my own healthcare and truly understanding it, I believe it is highly sophisticated and in most cases far more competent. In practice for over 2,000 years, there’s no denying it has stood the test of time and is still the main healthcare model in China today.
I trained at the College of Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shannon, Ireland for three years, under Dr John Burke, John Cooke and Sang Man. During my training my mentors have been Dr Yin (Chinese Medical Care, London) and Simona Dhar (The Healing Rooms, Galway, Eire).
I hold a licentiate to practise TCM Acupuncture and Cosmetic Acupuncture from CMATCM, other qualifications include; BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology.
